Vieux Château Certan 2019
Vieux Château Certan is one of the most prestigious vineyards in the Pomerol appellation, rich in expertise and masterful craftsmanship. Since 1924, it has belonged to the Thienpont family, a prominent figure among the great vineyards of the Right Bank of Bordeaux. Alexandre Thienpont and his son Guillaume are currently in charge, devoting all their passion and love to producing wines that are ever purer and richer in elegance.
Vieux Château Certan is located on a 14-hectare vineyard of contiguous vines, planted on the Pomerol plateau, composed of clay, gravel, and sand, with a high iron content in the subsoil. The grape varieties are Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines are aged for 18 months in 100% new oak barrels.
La Gravette Certan is the second wine produced on the estate.
Vieux Château Certan produces wines of infinite richness and seduction, renowned for their suppleness, freshness and persistence.
Château Vieux Certan 2019, is a ripe, tannic, fruity wine with surprisingly preserved acidity. It reveals a superb balance. The Merlots are dense, vinous, smooth, full and racy. The few Cabernet Francs retained as first wine, all lacey, are complex, tasty and persistent. Very promising, it is comparable to the 2010 in terms of character, concentration and complexity.
