Château Canon 2018 - 1st Great Cru Class B
In Saint-Emilion, the Merlot grape variety reigns supreme. Its name comes from the patois, "little blackbird", because of its intense color, close to that of the bird. The restructuring of the vineyard of Château Canon has made it possible to increase the proportion of Merlot vines to 65%, a proportion faithful to the origins of the property.
With 30% Cabernet Franc, the grape variety of Château Canon is representative of Saint-Emilion. Long associated with Merlot, Cabernet Franc is complementary to it and expresses itself marvelously on limestone soils.
La Parcelle Du Bourg
Clos de murs, the vineyard of Château Canon borders the entrance of Saint-Emilion. It even invites itself in the heart of the village, since the parcel of the Bourg de Château Canon, rue de la porte Brunet, is adjacent to the Convent of the Cordeliers.
A single plot of vines of 15 ares, surrounded by houses, ploughed by a horse and harvested by hand, according to ancestral practices. Its Merlot grape variety and its rank of 1er Grand Cru Classé make it part of the composition of the great wine.
