Vieux Château Certan 2009
A multifaceted vineyard
Covering a contiguous 14 hectares, the Vieux Château Certan vineyard is divided into 23 plots managed independently according to soil type, grape varieties planted, and the age of the vines. The soils consist of a very clayey section planted mainly with Merlot, a clayey-gravelly section planted with Cabernet Franc, and a very gravelly section planted with Cabernet Sauvignon.
The average age of the vineyard is 50 years. These older vines, combined with the microclimate of the Pomerol plateau, allow for optimal maturation of the various grape varieties. "Vieux Château Certan is the result of a very special ecosystem where the soil, plants, and climate blend harmoniously to produce an exceptional wine."
A tool of precision is finesse. The result of many years of experience and observation, the cellars of Vieux Château Certan combine the best of tradition with today's technical expertise and precision.
