Château Latour 2009 - 1st Great Cru Class
Like every year at the beginning of the school year, Château Latour is putting on the market a few bottles from their cellars, so this year, I am very happy to offer you the Grand Vin de Château Latour 2009, a wine for laying down.
The bottles will be equipped with the Prooftag system as well as a back label specifying the year of preparation and release from the Château.
Château Latour is located in the heart of the Médoc wine region, about 50 km northwest of Bordeaux, where the legend of the Bordeaux vineyard was created. The heart of its terroir, l'Enclos, dominates the Gironde estuary where river and ocean have brought it over the centuries its geological complexity and favour every day the mild climate.
Since 1993 and under the impetus of the Pinault family, owners of the estate, important changes have been made over the years to continue the quest for excellence in the wines produced by Château Latour.
2009 Latour prances from the glass with showy notes of black cherry preserves, blueberry pie, and black currant jelly, leading to an undercurrent of camphor, clove oil, and cinnamon toast.
The medium to full-bodied palate is decadently stacked with black and blue fruit layers, framed by super-plush tannins and jaw-dropping tension, culminating in a fragrant finish that just goes on and on. It’s flat-out delicious right now but promises to reward the patient.
