Château Mouton Rothschild 2022 - 1st Cru Class

Château Mouton Rothschild comprises 90 hectares of vines north-west of Bordeaux, on the edge of the Médoc peninsula, itself situated, as its name suggests, in medio aquae, in the middle of the waters: to the east the Gironde estuary, to the west the Atlantic Ocean.

The Médoc vineyards, which date back to Roman times, currently cover some 16,500 hectares. It is planted on a narrow strip of land 80 km long and 5 to 10 km wide, close to the river, which irrigates it in depth and moderates temperature variations. Leaning against the northern tip of the Landes forest, it benefits from the mildness of the oceanic climate, while being protected from its excesses.

Composed of "graves", pebbles and gravel that retain the sun's warmth, mixed with partly clayey sands. Produces some of the world's greatest wines! The thin, poor gravels descend to a depth of several meters, resting on a marl-limestone bedrock. The red wines produced here are elegant, powerful, rich in tannin and long-lasting.

Petit Mouton, the château's second wine, is a fine example. A grand blanc, Aile d'Argent, is also produced as an AOC Bordeaux.
