Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2022

The Dillon family acquired the estate in 1983, and immediately initiated a veritable renaissance, using new technical tools to enhance its priceless terroir, while preserving the aura, charm and spirituality that are the soul of La Mission.

Château La Mission Haut-Brion is part of the Pessac-Léognan appellation. The estate faces Château Haut-Brion and shares with it the vast terrace of fine gravel known as Haut-Brion on old maps and charts.

The vineyard covers 29 hectares. Nearly 25 are planted with red grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc) and just over 4 with white grape varieties (Semillon and Sauvignon).

The gravel that contributes to the viticultural value of Château La Mission Haut-Brion's soils is made up of small pebbles, formed from different varieties of quartz. The gravelly soils rest on a unique subsoil of clay, sand, limestone and falun established at the end of the Tertiary era, then during the Quaternary and throughout the ice ages.
