Château Tronquoy 2022
Located in the heart of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, Château Tronquoy (formerly Tronquoy-Lalande) has a vineyard of 30 hectares. The origin of the estate goes back to the 18th century. Several families of owners succeeded one another until 2006, when Martin and Olivier Bouygues acquired the property.
The Tronquoy terroir has a soil of predilection for the blossoming of Merlot. This grape variety represents the majority of the vineyard (49%) and underlines a specificity that distinguishes Tronquoy from its neighbors where the dominant grape variety is Cabernet Sauvignon.Cabernet Sauvignon is next at 45%, then Petit Verdot (6%). The vineyard is planted at a density of 9000 vines per hectare and benefits from an ideal exposure, very favorable to the maturation of the grapes.
The soil is composed of a mixture of gravel and clay more than 8 meters thick. The gravel has the particularity of being very draining and the clay, keeps the water in depth to restore it according to the need. Located at 23 meters above sea level, the naturally formed ridges over the centuries favor the drainage of rainwater. In addition, the Gironde estuary, very close, acts as a thermal regulator.
