Château Margaux 2022 - 1st Great Cru Class

Everything about Margaux is absolutely remarkable. The Château bears the name of its appellation in an exceptional way, just as it underpins its reputation. The neo-Palladian residence, built in 1810, imposes its majesty on fortunate visitors. The estate's clay-limestone soils give birth to legendary vintages with a racy, sensual allure, which Thomas Jefferson - third American president and first serious wine collector - ranked among the four finest wines in Bordeaux.

Margaux has undergone tremendous growth since its acquisition by the Mentzelopoulos family in 1977, and then with the remarkable work of Paul Pontallier, who established the cru as the best in its appellation.

Today, the estate is writing a new page in its history with the arrival of Alexis Leven-Mentzelopoulos to the family business. He joins his sister Alexandra, ambassador of the Premier Grand Cru Classé since 2012 and now deputy general manager of the family business, at the helm. Both can count on the experience of Philippe Bascaules, an agricultural engineer who worked alongside Paul for twenty-one years, to continue shaping smooth wines with an inimitable style: elegance, purity of fruit, harmony and finesse.

Château Margaux also offers a white wine of extraordinary quality (Pavillon Blanc), as well as a second wine of great elegance (Pavillon Rouge).
