Château Montrose 2021 - 2nd Cru Class
Montrose is a 95-hectare vineyard, which has the exceptional and very rare characteristic of being historically in one piece, around the Château, the cellars and the farm buildings.
The terroir of Château Montrose corresponds to what geographers call the "elite nuclei". A complex geological stacking of several million years has favored the creation of this ridge, which benefits from a natural drainage towards the estuary, ideal for the production of great wines.
On these terraces, we find a soil of gravel mixed with sand on the surface and a subsoil, richer in clay, allowing the formation of a natural reserve in which the vine will draw, in depth, the water it needs.
Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), the great variety of soils also allows us to bring to perfect maturity parcels of Merlot (32%), Cabernet Franc (6%) and Petit Verdot (2%).
