Château Cos D'Estournel 2019 - 2nd Cru Class
Today, the 100 hectares of Cos d'Estournel are composed of a mosaic of a multitude of plots. Planted two thirds in Cabernet Sauvignon, they are supplemented by Merlot, and in a small proportion by Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
With an average age of 45 years, the vineyard of Cos d'Estournel conceals some very old vines, numerous between 80 and 100 years old, which represent an incomparable opportunity for the property. These old vines bring depth and structure to the wine and reflect the complexity of the soil from which they draw the deepest elements. The Grand Vin de Cos d'Estournel is made with grapes from vines that are on average 55 years old.
The preservation of the heritage is paramount at Cos d'Estournel: each action is undertaken with a global and long term vision, and is based on the best techniques. In the vineyard as well as in the cellar, the mission of the teams is to privilege the quality of the work as natural as possible, even if this has real implications on the time spent. Thus, the installation of the gravity-fed winery allows the berries and then the juice to be handled with the greatest gentleness, without excess, thus preserving the integrity of the fruit. This work in the cellar fully reveals the complexity of the Cos d'Estournel terroir. Cos d'Estournel is more than 200 years old. It is a duty to perpetuate a long-term vision of the vineyard, which respects the environment, for future generations.

Both silky and delicate, the 2019 vintage reveals itself as immensely deep and the quintessence of Cos d'Estournel. A multiple wine, it presents notes of cinnamon, jasmine, but also a noble minerality, with a spicy touch that holds the whole perfectly on the finish. Shimmering and bewitching, Cos d'Estournel 2019 embodies all the grace of our terroir, but far from being intimidating, it is an invitation to discover a vintage already destined for a long life.
