Château Margaux 2018 - 1st Great Cru Class
At the beginning of the 21st century, Bordeaux wines are enjoying unprecedented success. The whole world seems to have its eyes fixed on Bordeaux and the demand for these great wines continues to grow. This prosperity, as well as the rise of many other regions of the world, has placed Château Margaux in a more competitive climate and has also highlighted its unique positioning: that of a Premier Grand Cru Classé in 1855 enjoying a terroir that has been shaped over the centuries.
The great wine of Château Margaux 2018 has been among the very best of the estate in recent years, a performance that is all the more remarkable when the 2015 and 2016 vintages are still so recent.

Château Margaux's White Pavilion
Château Margaux 2018 is incredibly concentrated. The small size of the berries and the relatively low yields greatly explain the exceptionally high tannin levels. Yet its power does not show any form of exuberance and helps to carry the aromas and structure of this wine for a very long time on the finish.
Quite early in the vinification process, we realized this tannic potential and moderated our extraction programs, including on our Merlot plots, which are usually less dense than our great Cabernet Sauvignons. The latter still constitute the heart of Château Margaux since they represent 90% of the blend. They also allow this wine not to present too high degrees, 14° by such climatic conditions. 4% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot complete the blend of this wine. Château Margaux represents 36% of the harvest.
