Château Angelus 2019 - 1st Great Cru Class A

Less than one kilometer from the famous bell tower of Saint-Emilion, on the famous south-facing "pied de côte", Angelus is the work of a passion written for eight generations by the de Boüard de Laforest family.

Planted on the clay-limestone hillside south of Saint-Emilion, the vineyard dedicated to great wine has 27 hectares, currently undergoing organic conversion. It gives smooth wines with silky tannins, which play the fruit card in all its richness, and toasted. The wine is aged for 22 months, mainly in new barrels, the rest in 30 hl barrels.

Second wine "Le Carillon d'Angélus" is planted on 17 hectares mainly planted with Merlot.

"This 2019 vintage, in conversion to organic farming, proved to be easier to carry out than 2018, a superbly accomplished vintage but one that caused some concern.

Tasting commentary of the Château:

The dress is of a brilliant intensity, almost purple. The keystone of this vintage is its great aromatic purity with bright notes of black fruit and wild cherry. The woodiness is already fully integrated. On the palate the attack is suave, the tannins evoke the touch of cashmere, rolling and enveloping. The finish, thanks to the very homogeneous quality of the Cabernet Franc, remains spicy and mentholated with a fresh tension. This wine reveals the authenticity of the terroir of Angelus: chiselled, precise. It also has the appetence that suits its elegance. It is a wine that is in the list of great vintages.
