L'Extravagant de Doisy-Daëne 2020
The château has belonged to the Dubourdieu family since 1924. He passed away in 2016. He ran Doisy Daëne with his two sons, Fabrice and Jean-Jacques, the former as technical director and the latter as marketing manager. Denis Dubourdieu was both a professor of oenology and a world-renowned consultant.
In fine vintages, Château Doisy-Daëne produces a prestigious cuvée called L'Extravagant, in AOC Sauternes, available in very limited quantities.
The estate also produces a fine dry white wine, Doisy-Daëne Deuxième Cru. It is a 15-hectare vineyard located in Barsac. It is rooted in a thin layer of clayey sand covering a limestone subsoil. The grape varieties are composed of 80% Sémillon and 20% Sauvignon.
Here, the harvest requires three to six passes to pick the grapes at the ideal stage, concentrated by noble rot. Château Doisy Daëne produces three white wines under its name:
- A sweet white, Doisy-Daëne
- L'Extravagant de Doisy Daëne when the vintage permits,
- A dry white Bordeaux.
