Château Angelus 2020 - 1st Great Cru Class A

Less than one kilometer from the famous bell tower of Saint-Emilion, on the famous south-facing "pied de côte", Angelus is the work of a passion written for eight generations by the de Boüard de Laforest family.

Planted on the clay-limestone hillside south of Saint-Emilion, the vineyard dedicated to great wine has 27 hectares, currently undergoing organic conversion. It gives smooth wines with silky tannins, which play the fruit card in all its richness, and toasted. The wine is aged for 22 months, mainly in new barrels, the rest in 30 hl barrels.

Second wine "Le Carillon d'Angélus" is planted on 17 hectares mainly planted with Merlot.

THE SUBLIME

2020, the mirror year, is also the golden number of this rare vintage: the perfect proportion, the ideal harmony. It evokes both the cyclical time of the vine and its work, an ideal of balance and this duality crossed, overcome and finally sublimated which characterizes it.

Although sunny, this vintage remains perfectly balanced: relatively high alcohols, subtly counterbalanced by ph expressing all the freshness and intensity of the fruit...

Our impressions during the tasting of the berries were confirmed afterwards: silky and tight tannins, very deep color and precision of the aromas of the ripe fruit, aromatic complexity of a rare intensity, great persistence of a very lively freshness which is in the heart of the frame.

This resolved tension and sublimated duality have forged the character of a new Angelus of anthology, undoubtedly destined to strike the spirits and mark the memories.
