Château La Clotte 2022 - Great Cru Class
With its 4 small hectares, Château La Clotte, grand cru classé, belongs today to the famous Vauthier family, owner of Château Ausone, 1er Grand Cru Classé A.
This very old vineyard, rests on limestone plateaus and a clay-limestone hillside. The average age of the vines is about fifty years... exposed to the south and sheltered from the prevailing winds.
Important means have been implemented in the cellar as in the vineyard. The result of a careful selection of the grapes, La Clotte is the result of a manual harvest, a meticulous sorting of the crop, a manual punching down of the cap and then a maceration by marc immersed in stainless steel vats. The malolactic fermentation in barrels is followed by a maturation of about 18 months in new barrels.
The dominant grape variety is Merlot (85%), to which Cabernet Franc is added.
It is a rare wine, with a great potential for ageing.
