Petrus is today one of the most sought after wines...
The vines are located on the highest area of the appellation, at about 40 meters (on a plateau) and are composed of blue clays. These blue clays are rich in iron and also allow to store water. This key resource is a decisive point during particularly arid periods.
The estate extends over 11.6 hectares, it is composed of Merlot for the quasi-totality, and Cabernet Franc in complement.
Petrus, does not bear the appellation of Château (Petrus), for the simple reason that there is no Château Petrus on the estate. It is nevertheless, one of the greatest wines.
The estate belongs to the Mouiex family.
