Château L'Église Clinet 2020

This great wine of Pomerol... that is L'Eglise Clinet represents a surface of 4,5 hectares of vines. The average age of the vines is 45 years, which allows us to obtain naturally low yields and to control the quality of the grapes that will make the future vintage.

The talented and perfectionist Denis Durentou left us in 2020, leaving the place to his three daughters united and determined to continue the work of their father.

All the vines are worked in reasoned culture and moreover, by hand. It is in the concern of respecting a magnificent terroir made of clay gravel and clay. The manual harvest which takes place when the grapes are perfectly ripe phenolic allows a sorting according to the quality of the grapes.

The 2020 Church-Clinet is very colorful. It has an intense nose of blackberry, wild strawberry, hints of Japanese nori and light basalt aromas. The palate has exquisite balance and a silvery bead of acidity that slices through the pure black fruit with effortless ease. This is a very harmonious and concentrated L'Eglise-Clinet, and as always, this is not a Pomerol that pleases right away. You have to sit with it and examine its facets, including those that need unlocking with aeration. There is wonderful salinity on the finish and impressive persistence.

Dark, intense and purple color. Very aromatic nose, fine, fruity, pure and ripe. It is fragrant as Merlot can be in this part of the world. Fine note of ink. Delicate and yet fleshy from the entrance in mouth, complete in development, fat with a lot of taste, the wine evolves tasty and deep in finale on a length with a refined tannicity.
