Château Rauzan-Ségla, is a wine estate located in Margaux in the Gironde. In the Margaux AOC, it is classified as a second grand cru in the official classification of Bordeaux wines of 1855. Like Château Canon, it belongs to the Wertheimer family.
The vineyard stretches over 66 hectares, the grape varieties are classic Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (35%), Cabernet Franc (1.5%) and Petit Verdot (3.5%).
The average age of the vines is about 35 years.
Since 2010, 4 hectares have been converted to organic farming. Annual production is around 230,000 bottles, including 110,000 bottles of first wine and 120,000 bottles of second wine. The terroir is made up of fine gravel and deep gravel and clayey-limestone soils.
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it sings of lifted red and black cherries, black raspberries and cassis with a rose hip tea and lilacs undercurrent plus sparks of tobacco, pencil shavings and tilled earth. The palate is medium-bodied, elegant and mineral laced with firm, fine-grained tannins and beautiful freshness, finishing with great length and depth.
