Château Pontet Canet 2019 - 5th Cru Class
Located in the commune of Pauillac, the vineyard covers 81 hectares... The soul of Pontet-Canet is the "Plateau", a ridge of Garonne gravel from the Günz region that rests on a limestone base. This lean and well-drained soil brings out the demanding character of the Cabernet Sauvignon, the signature of the great Pauillac wines. Planted in the center of the croup, the Cabernet Franc brings tannic nobility and finesse. Let us also add, on the periphery of the plateau, a few Merlot vines occupying the clayey-gravelly soil, sometimes more chalky.
Three plots located on the edge of the hilltop have been planted with Petit Verdot. This grape variety gives incredible wines with spicy aromas.
Over the last 10 years, the knowledge of the estate's terroirs has become more intimate. This understanding can be done through pedology but science provides only part of the answer. At Pontet-Canet, the sensitivity of the soils is judged glass in hand, by tasting the wines and by a constant presence in the vineyard. Practice has sublimated theory.
Dark, intense and beautiful color. Pretty nose very aromatic, pure, with ripe fruit. Fat from the entry in mouth, then melting in the middle, very perfumed and very present, precise in its flavors, the wine evolves ascending between the middle and the finish. It finishes noble by being one of the most perfumed wines seen at Pontet Canet at this age. Grain of fine tannin.
