Château Beauséjour - Héritiers Duffau-Lagarosse 2018 - 1st Great Cru Class B

The property now covers 6.75 hectares.

The soils are predominantly limestone and show exceptional maturation capacities. With a South/South-Western exposure and a 30-meter difference in altitude, they develop three main types of terroirs: at the top, the limestone table with its clays, then a layer of Fronsadais molasse surmounted by very calcareous marls and a foot of slope formed by ancient colluviums.

On these types of soils, Merlot is today the dominant grape variety. Well adapted to the most clayey areas, it brings density and sensuality to the wine. The Cabernet Franc, with the new team, is going to find a more important and determining place: the only parcel of Cabernet Sauvignon is thus grafted in Cabernet Franc and a massal selection is planted on the limestone table of Beauséjour, the hottest zone of the vineyard, to bring to the assembly minerality, binder, tension and vigour.
