Château Hosanna 2018

Château Hosanna, is a vineyard measuring just 4.5 hectares, located in the heart of the Pomerol plateau. This vineyard is adjacent to some of the most illustrious crus of the appellation: to the north, Chateau Lafleur, to the east, Chateau Pétrus, to the west, Chateau La Fleur-Pétrus, and to the south, Vieux Chateau Certan.

Named Hosanna at the time of its acquisition by Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix in 1999.

The soil is a mixture of red gravel and clay on iron dross, known for its ability to produce very elegant, complex and powerful wines, revealing remarkable notes of dark chocolate. Very old Cabernet Franc vines, some dating back to 1956, contribute to the unique elegance and complexity of the wine.

A full-bodied and generous wine, combining finesse and balance, with a remarkable silky texture.

Hosanna 2018, deep garnet-purple in color, the nose needs a bit of shaking and coaxing before it flies out of the glass with compelling blue and blackberry pie, blackberry jam and plum compote scents, as well as notes of spice cake, unsmoked cigar and violet with a touch of clove.

The full-bodied palate shines with opulence, loaded with layers of dark fruit jam, supported by seductive, velvety tannins and seamless freshness, with a long, very spicy finish.

It's very tempting to drink it now, but 3-5 years of patience will offer a little cerebral tertiary contribution to all that decadent fruit.

Hosanna 2018 is rich and luscious, as it always is, yet remains incredibly fine on the palate. Notes of inky black fruits, chocolate, new leather, clove, licorice and lavender unfold as the 2018 opens up in the glass. Pliable and supple with silky tannins, the 2018 will drink well with minimal cellaring, if desired.

As always, Hosanna is the most flamboyant of the Mouiex wines.
